Accelerate Data Center Construction With The Team at PCX
Our clients have growing workloads driving IT demands that must meet the highest quality standards, on budget and within accelerated schedules. We help the top information and technology companies in America reach their goals while solving the challenges of extended lead times, technical challenges, and labor risks.
Rapid Deployment
Using a modular approach to data centers combined with modern methods of construction allow for the rapid deployment of data center capacity that is both higher quality and scalable. As more and more smart devices pour onto the market there is an exponential demand on our IT infrastructure. Mobile broadband (5G) with demanding applications like VR and AR, self-driving cars, and Internet of Things (IoT) are processing and creating data at rates that are hard to imagine just a few years ago. Our clients partner with the team at PCX to help them succeed at the forefront of technology.
Demand Obstacles
Demand is great for business, but it can come with a cost. Due to the rapid growth of the data center industry were are seeing increased lead times from equipment suppliers. Expedite fees, specification compromises, and schedules all suffer with a traditional construction approach (stick built). As a vendor agnostic integrator, PCX offers our clients the freedom to choose the best in class for all their major components. Our customers take advantage of the best lead times for UPS, batteries, switchgear, ATS, panelboards, DCIM and more. Our approach avoids vendor lock-in and unnecessary compromise.
Skilled Labor Shortage Risks
Approximately 70% of a data center build is spent on MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) Traditional construction relies on the craftsmanship and the skills of contractors at each site to install and integrate these systems. The problem with this approach is the varying cost and quality between different contractors and regions. We are in the early years of the longest national skilled labor shortage ever. PCX offers our clients labor security with over 25 years of proven engineering processes, training, and a rugged quality system certified to ISO 9001:2015. Our low turnover rates, experience, nationally recognized certifications (ISO,UL,CSA, and NFPA) and advanced processes eliminate the variability and risk of labor.
Technical Challenges
Lower PUE and higher cabinet density present technical challenges that are not suited for traditional building processes. The PCX electrical engineering and mechanical engineering teams help our clients avoid design issues like hot spots, cable derating, and code requirements (NEC, NFPA, IEEE, IBC, etc.). Our clients also remove risk from their construction site by moving the build process to a controlled environment at one of our manufacturing facilities. Weather delays, site congestion, and wasted material are removed from your project when you take your electrical and mechanical integration offsite and build a pre-fabricated and tested solution that is ready for commissioning.
