PCX Corporation ships first floorless Prefabricated Electrical Power Distribution Systems to a leading California commercial developer. The PCX FLX-EDC & PEC Centers will be employed in a new mixed-use retail mall under construction in the Bay Area. The project has a shortened delivery schedule and is scheduled to open in 2017.
The aggressive schedule once again proved to the project team the advantages of a prefabricated solution. Utility permanent power was accelerated by over two months by employing UL Certified Electrical Rooms that met NEC compliance. This resulted in savings: (1) Elimination of Temporary Power Costs (2) Reduced Site Labor requirements, in the tight Bay Area Labor Market (3) Safety Improvement by work being completed at PCX (4) No Site work and therefore less Site Waste (5) 3D Model Designs Completed (6) UL Certified solutions prefabricated in an ISO 9001 manufacturing facility.
Architecture and resource management were major considerations as well as aesthetic integration of code requirements. The theme is to balance the natural beauty of the area with lifestyle experiences. It will feature open air shopping, gourmet grocery, dining, music, and outdoor recreation. It will foster a sense of community offering a beautiful lush setting for people to gather and relax, or attend a variety of events.
The contemporary facility will comprise 10 buildings and offer 350,000 square feet of new retail and office space. Electrical power distribution will be supplied by eight Electrical Distribution Centers (EDCs) powered by 4 Power Equipment Centers (PECs). All switchboards were designed to meet the jurisdictional meter height requirements of Pacific Gas & Electric. A custom floorless design was preferred to meet the meter height constraints and offer a clean unique modular design.
Initial shipments were delivered within 10 weeks after receipt of order with full structural calculations for shipment, lifting, and final permanent installation.
